The Current European flag is designed in 1955. Constructed by 12 stars over a blue background. Since then, the society in Europe has changed significantly. Different cultures now living and working together on a relatively small area. What is the significance of this new dynamic society with its diversity of cultures, languages and traditions for the identity of Europe? How Europeans see Europe today? And imagine how that transfers into a new identity.
Designers from around the world were invited in the Hague to think about their ideas for a new symbol for Europe. This is one of the proposals submitted for display.
Europe became a hub for many cultures to mingle and interact. This mingling is active and in some isolated occasions results in a clash between cultures. The geographical partitions are still there, but people move freely through them, changing the inner content, and the way we live in.
The new Identity symbolizes the mobility of the cultures. Understands that languages, cultures and their flags get overlaid by others.
It is no longer a unique color code, but a combination of many. It is no longer defined but spread and combined.
